Project 50 June Political Newsletter — Anniversary of Dobbs v. Jackson
Three years after the Supreme Court's devastating decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization — which overturned Roe v. Wade and stripped away a fundamental right from millions — the fight for reproductive freedom continues with renewed urgency and purpose.
That's why, in this month’s political newsletter, we’re proud to spotlight the public launch of Progress Arkansas Project, the rebrand of Our Choice Coalition to the Indiana Reproductive Freedom PAC, and critical efforts in Virginia, where Repro Rising Virginia is preparing to deploy electoral strategies to defend the narrow pro-choice majority in the state legislature. The work of these organizations is bold, strategic, and essential, and Project 50 is proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them.
Since the fall of Roe, we’ve seen a wave of cruel abortion bans, a chilling effect on reproductive care, and an emboldened political movement that’s made clear: they won’t stop at Roe. But we’ve also seen people rise up — organizing, donating, voting, and fighting back with fierce resolve.
As we mark this painful anniversary, we recommit ourselves to the work ahead. This isn’t just about restoring rights — it’s about rebuilding a future where every person has full autonomy, dignity, and access to the care they need.
Thank you for standing with us. Let’s keep going, together.

Virginia Spotlight
Earlier this month, Project 50 had the pleasure of attending Repro Rising Virginia’s Annual Fundraiser. It’s a critical year in Virginia, the last abortion access point in the South and a destination for many patients seeking care. Also, a pending constitutional amendment that would guarantee the right to abortion care hangs in the balance.
Virginia is one of the few states with elections this year. With the June 17th primary behind them, advocates are now turning to the general election on November 4th. Currently, pro-choice allies in the state legislature control the House of Delegates by one seat. Laws in Virginia require constitutional amendments to pass the General Assembly twice before Virginians can vote on them. To date, the constitutional amendment has passed once; however the second and final passage will take place only after the November election. Please see the graphic below from Repro Rising that explains the process in more detail. For more information about the process, please visit Repro Rising's website HERE.
Maintaining a pro-choice majority in the Virginia state legislature this year is unbelievably important, not only for Virginians but for the entire Southern region of the United States. Abortion deserts blanket large regions in the South, and Virginia is a safe haven for those in need of reproductive health care.
Repro Rising is prepared to meet this important moment in Virginia, but it’s all hands on deck to protect this critical access point. Please consider contributing to Repro Rising’s electoral program HERE.
National Landscape Updates
Republican lawmakers in Ohio plan to introduce legislation that would criminalize abortion care. This bill would also ban IVF and some forms of contraceptive care.
The CEO of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin has warned that half of Planned Parenthood clinics in the state will be forced to close due to a provision in the One Big Beautiful Act, which would prohibit Medicaid from reimbursing any clinics that provide abortion care. Sixty percent of their patients are insured through Medicaid.
Maryland has seen a rise in out-of-state patients coming to the state for abortion care. This summer, the state will begin using a $25 million state fund to support under and uninsured patients' access to abortion care.
In Georgia, the baby of Adriana Smith, a brain-dead woman forced to remain on life support due to an abortion ban in the state, was delivered.
Across the country, states with abortion bans are seeing a troubling trend: doctors are increasingly leaving, driven by restrictive laws that undermine their ability to provide essential care.
We are excited to share a few final Project 50 updates!
This summer, Project 50 is thrilled to welcome two interns to our team, Ellie Gonzales and Josh Ellison. Ellie is a rising senior studying Public Policy and Global Studies at the University of Chicago. Josh is also a rising senior, and he is studying Political Science and Legal Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
They are supporting the team with research, fundraising, social media, and much more. We are so grateful to have them on the team and for their hard work to ensure Project 50 can maximize its impact in 2026!
Project 50 will be hosting events in Martha’s Vineyard, MA, Telluride, CO, Washington, DC, and New York, NY in the coming months. If you are interested in learning more about any of these events, please reach out to Erin Schuler at info@project50.net.
As we enter year four of a post-Roe America, it is more important than ever to keep up the fight and to ensure we do not leave millions of Americans in abortion banned states behind. This work is difficult and, at times, it can feel discouraging. However, it IS possible because of YOU.
We hope you will support our work with a one-time or monthly repeating contribution by clicking HERE today.
Thank you for your partnership and for supporting our vision – Everyone, everywhere must have the right to make their own reproductive healthcare decisions to chart their future.
