May 7 Speaker Spotlight: The Hon. Kathleen Sebelius!

As you may already know, Project 50 is holding our first “How We Win” event on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, at the Ivy Room at Tree Studios in Chicago’s River North neighborhood (12 E Ohio St. Chicago, IL).

Please see the event invitation below which includes all the important details.

We’re thrilled to share that Project 50 Board member The Hon. Kathleen Sebelius will be featured in the event program. Secretary Sebelius previously served as the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Governor of Kansas.

Secretary Sebelius is one of America’s foremost experts on national and global health issues, human services, and executive leadership. From 2009 to 2014, she served in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet, where she worked to pass and implement the Affordable Care Act.

Sebelius also served as the Governor of Kansas from 2003 to 2009, for two terms as the Kansas Commissioner of Insurance, and four terms in the Kansas Legislature.

As we see Trump administration figures like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. attack healthcare in this country, Secretary Sebelius offers a powerful perspective on the consequences threatening all Americans.

Just this week, the Trump administration has frozen nearly $30 million in funding for Title X – the nation’s family planning program. Title X has enabled millions of Americans to access birth control, cancer screenings, and sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment since 1970. Then Congressman George H. W. Bush sponsored the bill that created the program, and President Richard Nixon signed it into law.

This latest attempt to eliminate access to family planning is a continuation of decades-long attacks on Title X by reproductive rights opponents. More than ever, it is critical to understand these threats and how to counter them to protect women and girls across America.

We hope you’ll join us to hear from Secretary Sebelius on May 7th and why she believes in Project 50’s strategy to fight for reproductive rights at the state level. You can RSVP online HERE or directly to Erin Schuler, at info@project50.net. Tickets start at $250. Get yours today!

We look forward to seeing you there!
